The viewing room

Ongoing

Lolita Cros is turning her HQ into a viewing room with artworks rotating every few weeks.

We are thrilled to welcome Don Dudley's #54, on view until June 2024.

Born in Los Angeles in 1930, Dudley lived and worked on the West Coast for thirty-eight years before relocating to New York City in 1969. Dudley is a crucial, historical and geographical bridge between the West Coast art scene of the 50s and 60s (think surface oriented works by “Cool School” or “Finish Fetish” generation) and the hard-edged East Coast Minimalist artists such as Frank Stella, Carmen Herrera and Ellsworth Kelly.

Throughout his seventy-year career Dudley has challenged artistic conventions and the traditional concept of painting by incorporating industrial materials in his work such as aluminum, lacquer, homasote and plywood. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at prominent institutions including P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center and New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York; as well as La Jolla Museum of Art, La Jolla, CA. He has participated in many group exhibitions at Whitney Museum of American Art, New Museum of Contemporary Art, Queens Museum, NY; Vera List Art Center at MIT, MA; and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, CA, where he is included in the permanent collection along with Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, NY; and JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, NY, among others.
